TRANSPORTATION

Mitos S.A. will organize the timings and pick up places for the participants to travel to and from FORTH during the meeting. 

BUS TIME-TABLE

The pick-up point for the transfer bus to bring the participants to FORTH is the bus park at the archaeological museum of Heraklion which is situated approximately 5 minutes walk from the Atlantis, Lato & Olympic Hotels. Please check at the hotel reception for directions if you are unsure. The journey from Heraklion to FORTH takes about 30 minutes during busy hours.

Air

The closest airport is that of the city of Heraklion.  Olympic Airlines and Aegean Airlines fly regularly to Heraklion from Athens and Thessaloniki.  The flight’s duration is ~ 40 min.  (Note that Aegean flights might not appear at travel agent computers in Europe and overseas).  Alternatively, you can fly directly to Heraklion from various European cities by regular flights with Lufthansa and Transavia.

 From the airport the best way to reach the center of Heraklion (~5 km) and FORTH (~ 13 km) is by taxi or bus.

 By Sea

There are two ferry companies that serve Heraklion from Piraeus:  ANEK Lines and Minoan Lines.  Typically the ferries leave Piraeus in the evening and arrive in Heraklion around 5:30 am.

 The Heraklion Port is very close to the centre of town (~1 km).  The best way to reach FORTH from the port is again by Taxi (~ 11 km) or bus.
